Everyday people just like you and me struggle to make ends meat. Some unfortunates are stuck in situations where only a miracle can can save them from desperate measures. Single mothers/fathers. Disabled and the elderly. Drug addicted and the unemployable. People that are in desperate situations do desperate things to get out of them....
If these folks want help they must first get the means to get there. If they are able to swallow there humiliation, they then must jump through hoops, untangle the red tape, and wait a week or two to find out if they will get help.I myself have been in this situation more than once and it does nothing to help your depression. You feel hopeless,no one cares and there is no way out..
Even before the financial and home foreclosure crisis hit full stride, the number of homeless children in America had reached an alarming level. The National Center on Family Homelessness released a report today that estimates that one in every 50 American children was homeless between 2005 and 2006. That totals roughly 1.5 million kids.

I have decided to use what little social media klout I have and set up a donation fund for these unfortunates.
Each time that my donations reach a thousand dollars I will pick a deserving family or individual that are in a desperate situation, grab my camera and make a difference. No Hoops, No red tape,No begging! Just help, nothing asked in return...
Find my Donation button and give whatever you can afford. You can do it anonymously or let me know by posting your name.
Updates will be posted.
Thank you for reading

ReplyDeletePlease leave a simple comment. I love to hear from people..
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful idea. There should be more people in the world doing the same thing. It would sure be a better place to live. I too have been in tight situations where I didn't know if I was going to have a roof over my head the following month, and could easily be i that situation again tomorrow. I'm @ work now & not in a place where I can donate, but I will favorite this & be back Friday. It will be the people who have been at the bottom before that will donate. Nobody else understands.
ReplyDeleteKristie, Thank you so Much! I have been homeless myself. Now that I have children I can't imagine what it would feel like to not have a roof over their heads.
DeleteYou are correct about the people at the bottom. You can't understand if you have never been there. Everyone that has donated has been an "everyday Joe" Not one famous person has offered a dime. People with money simple cannot fathom the humiliation and pain a parent or individual will go through when they have no place to rest their heads...
Eric, you're so sweet. To know that you guys struggle daily and yet you still want to help those less fortunate is just, well, idk, awesome. I wish there were more people like you out there, maybe then the world would be a better place. Love you guys!
ReplyDeleteDone! Thanks for doing this, Eric!
ReplyDeleteAdam my friend, you are awesome. I enjoy your comedy immensely and hope to meet you soon. Thanks for the donation and keep the funny coming!
DeleteRya, thank you Hon, We miss you guys and hope to see you soon. Yes, we struggle everyday but things are looking up! We have a beautiful family that is overfilled with love and frankly can't ask for anything more.I just cant wait to see the persons face when we hand them that money. I hope it is soon... Love me
ReplyDeleteOk, there has been a great influx of donations. It has become difficult to list all the people in this blog. We are still several hundred away from our goal but if this keeps up we may reach it by next week. Thank you all so much for your support!Keep up the great work you are doing! Look for your name in the credits at the end of the video segment. MWAH! Thank you for making a difference.

I appreciate you doing this. I give to local community organizations in Canada and wish more people would do the same. My father was homeless for part of his life due to his mental illness. All of us reached out to him to try and help but the nature of his illness (paranoid schizophrenia) didn't allow him to trust anyone enough to come live with us. : ( Fortunately, in the last 8 months of his life, someone at the Salvation Army got through to him and so he had a roof over his head and regular meals in his last months. So many people look at homeless people and say "Get a fucking job" but they don't know the whole story. A study in my hometown revealed that 70% of the homeless are mentally ill. As for the others, who knows what life has thrown at them. Can anyone really think someone would WANT to be homeless? Thank you for having compassion for those in dire circumstances. I'll be sharing this.
